Sams favourite caramel slice

This came out of an American  magazine in the late eighties

1/2cup margarine/butter (melted)

1 1/2 cups smashed dry crackers 

1 can of sweetened condense milk (14oz)

200g roughly chopped chocolate 

1 1/2 cups coconut (mixed of flaked and shredded

1 cup chopped nuts(almonds walnuts or pecans

  1.  add the melted butter first. to  a 13inch x 9 inch baking pan
  2. then add the crackers crumbs (I sieve of the fine crumbs using a colander)
  3. Pour over half the tin of condense milk 
  4. add the coconut nuts and chocolate 
  5. the drizzle over the remaining condense milk 
  6. baked in oven 180 /160 for about  30 to 60 minutes until the condense milk  is nicely caramelised 
  7. cool then store in frig before cutting 
  8. Freezes well
